Here, we show the electricity-driven regio- and stereoselective incorporation of CO2 into crotonyl-CoA by an NADPH-dependent enzymatic reductive carboxylation. Co-immobilization of a ferredoxin NADP+ reductase and crotonyl-CoA carboxylase/reductase within a 2,2'-viologen-modified hydrogel enabled iterative NADPH recycling and stereoselective formation of (2S)-ethylmalonyl-CoA, a prospective intermediate towards multi-carbon products from CO2 , with 92±6?% faradaic efficiency and at a rate of 1.6±0.4?μmol?cm-2 ?h-1 . This retrospective study included 34 individuals with type 2 diabetes who underwent both hyperinsulinemic-euglycemic clamp analysis and echocardiography. Both the insulin sensitivity index (ISI) as determined by glucose clamp analysis as well as HOMA-IR were determined as measures of insulin resistance. The ratio of the peak early- to late-diastolic mitral inflow velocities (E/A) and the LV ejection fraction (LVEF) were determined as measures of diastolic and systolic function, respectively.
The ISI was significantly correlated with both the E/A ratio and LVEF (correlation coefficients of 0.480 and 0.360, respectively), whereas HOMA-IR was not correlated with either cardiac parameter. Multivariate analysis revealed that ISI was an independent predictor for both a high log [E/A] (P=0.031) and a high LVEF (P=0.045).

These findings suggest the application of leaf and flower of the plant, which not only can prevent its uprooting but also ensure better therapeutic function.The study aimed to assess the haemodynamic changes of laparoscopic adrenalectomy (LA) in geriatric patients with pheochromocytoma (PHEO). To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to evaluate the haemodynamic outcomes of LA in this patient population.
Data of 350 patients who underwent single-side transperitoneal LA between 2000 and 2020 were reviewed retrospectively. Patients with a histopathological diagnosis of PHEO were included in the study and classified into two groups according to their ages at the date of surgery. Patients older than 65years were accepted as elderly according to the World Health Organisation (WHO) recommendations.
A total of 54 patients underwent LA for PHEO. Fifteen patients were enrolled in the elderly and 39 in the young groups. There were no significant differences in terms of the operation site (0.564), tumour size (0.878), perioperative results such as mean anaesthesia; operation times, blood loss and haemodynamic changes. There were no significant differences in mean hospitalisation and intensive care unit times. One patient in both groups had grade 1 complication according to Clavien Dindo classification (prolonged ileus, managed with medical treatment and transfusion during surgery, respectively).
Young and elderly patients had similar outcomes in terms of haemodynamic changes that occurred with LA. LA in elderly patients with PHEO is as safe and effective as in younger patients.
